How Much Does Moving Valuation Cost?
Moving valuation can be confusing! That’s why we’ve provided this simple tool to help calculate the cost of moving valuation in WA state and pull back the curtain a little on how this portion of the industry works.

Quick disclaimer: All licensed moving companies in Washington offer these same levels of insurance. Prices may vary a little bit, but the insurance options are mandated by the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. You can check out the UTC Guidelines here. This is the most up to date info from the recent changes made on July 1st of 2023. Industry-standard for depreciated replacement value is 20% per year for furniture items, and there are exceptions to the valuation like pets, plants, items of extraordinary value, and items made of particleboard.

Replacement with Deductible (Option 2)
This option’s valuation protection is calculated based on the total weight multiplied by $9.16 OR the total value of the shipment, whichever is higher, and includes a $300 deductible paid for by the client. This is the default option if you do not make a selection on your Estimate or Bill of Lading.
According to Washington State, as of 7/1/23, shipments must be valued at a minimum of $9.16 per pound. Customers may declare a higher value.
Full Replacement (Option 3)
This option’s valuation protection is calculated based on the total weight multiplied by $9.16 OR the total value of the shipment, whichever is higher.
