It’s usually a good idea to call to make sure the furniture you want to donate can be accepted, especially if you are going to drop off large furniture. Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement and donation centers that sell new and used furniture, building materials, and more. Donated items are sold to fund the repair and construction of Habitat for Humanity homes in the region. Affordable homes and mortgages through Habitat for Humanity help families in need, revitalize Tacoma neighborhoods, assist families after natural disaster, and help seniors age in their own home.

If you’re renovating after moving into a new home or getting rid of furniture before you relocate, turn to Habitat for Humanity first to donate large items. Habitat for Humanity accepts most types of furniture plus appliances, tools, light fixtures, cabinets, and more.

How to Donate
Habitat for Humanity accepts donations between 9 am and 5:30 pm, seven days a week. They also offer free furniture pickup in Tacoma! St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store – Furniture Donation in Tacoma to Benefit the Homeless & Working Poor of Pierce County
St. Vincent de Paul is a Christian charity that helps impoverished individuals and families. Donated items are sold in their thrift stores to support programs like medical care for the working poor, homeless outreach, bridge housing, food boxes, and charity dining rooms. All donations will benefit residents of Pierce County.
Furniture Accepted
St. Vincent de Paul accepts new and gently used furniture that is odorless and clean. Large and small furniture is accepted, including unsoiled mattresses. They do not accept furniture or mattresses that are damaged, torn, or soiled. Pressed-board furniture and baby furniture are not accepted.
How to Donate
Unfortunately, St. Vincente de Paul no longer offers free furniture removal in Tacoma. They have partnered with ReSupply Priority Pickup Service if you need furniture picked up. Otherwise, you can drop off donations at the SVDP Tacoma thrift store at the address below. Donations are accepted Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Note that donations are closed an hour before the thrift store hours!

Salvation Army Tacoma – Mattress & Large Furniture Donation Pickup in Tacoma
The Salvation Army is an international evangelical Christian charity that has served Tacoma and Pierce County residents for more than 125 years. The Salvation Army is best known for its thrift stores which help raise money that goes toward adult rehab centers and emergency relief. The Salvation Army serves those in poverty, the elderly, veterans, children, the homeless, and families that have survived disaster.
Furniture Accepted
Most furniture is accepted by the Salvation Army as long as it is in good and usable condition without water damage, structural damage, stains, tears, or defects. Disassembled pressed wood furniture is not accepted, but mattresses and box springs are as long as they are clean, unsoiled, and in good condition.

The Hoarder’s Attic is a family-owned and operated business. The thrift store was founded in 2016 to give the family’s son Shaun, who has cerebral palsy, a way to support himself.

The Hoarder’s Attic accepts donations that are free of odors, stains, and significant damage. Make sure you check before dropping off items because they may not currently have the space for large furniture.
How to Donate
Donations are accepted on the first three weekends of the month during regular business hours. Before bringing furniture, contact the Hoarder’s Attic to make sure they have room and are willing to accept what you have. Sometimes they close for lunch or close during normal operating days. Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region – Largest Charity for Tacoma Furniture Donation (Drop-off Only)
As you explore where to donate furniture in Tacoma, the first option that likely comes to mind is Goodwill. One of the country’s largest charitable organizations, Goodwill was founded in 1902 and supports job training, placement, and classes for people with disabilities. Note that Goodwill Tacoma pickup is not available – the organization only accepts drop-off donations.

Make sure you check Goodwill’s donation guidelines before visiting to drop off furniture as their needs and guidelines may change. Currently, Goodwill Tacoma locations are not accepting large furniture donations.
How to Donate
Goodwill only accepts Tacoma furniture donation as drop-offs. Donations can be placed in a bin at one of several locations. If you need help unloading donations, an employee can assist you.
